As a restaurant franchise specializing in breakfast and lunch moves into Utah, it is also giving to charity.
When The Egg & I opened its second Utah restaurant at 10555 S. Redwood Road in South Jordan Monday, franchise owners Kade and Kalli Huntsman donated $4,200 to Shriners Hospital for children. The franchise also raised $7,200 for the hospital when it opened the first Utah location in Holladay. The company will open another location in Draper this May and five more locations within the next five years. Each restaurant opening will continue to hold a private, pre-opening fundraiser training day to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children.
The Huntsman's 10-year-old daughter Berrett was born with only one arm. Since birth, Berrett has received treatment at Shriner's Hospital for Children where she has worked with the occupational rehabilitation team to learn how to grow and succeed with her limitation as a normal child. The hospital had a special violin made for Berrett, which she is now learning to play.
