A 54-year-old paraglider died Sunday afternoon in western Utah County.

Ronald Allen Carter, of Farmington, was paragliding with a group of friends near Allens Ranch Road, which is about 5.3 miles southwest of Fairfield, said Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Yvette Rice. He was practicing some advanced maneuvers in his paraglider when it plummeted to the ground; he died on impact, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The man's friends called for help when he crashed about 5:45 p.m.

The accident is still under investigation. Detectives do not know yet what caused him to crash, but do not suspect foul play, according to the release.
