All four ski resorts in Salt Lake's Cottonwood canyons topped the 100-inch base benchmark over the weekend.

While that is good news for resort marketing, the milestone was reached later in the season than usual. Over the past 33 years, Jan. 27 is the average date that Alta reaches the 100-inch mark, according to Alta snow-safety specialist Daniel Howlett.
