A Provo woman was in serious condition Monday, the day after her home was demolished in an explosion of still-undetermined cause.

Provo Fire Capt. Dean York said the victim was being interviewed by fire investigators Monday is their effort to determine what led to the blast that blew off the roof and collapsed the walls of a house at 1214 E. 520 South about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The woman, identified as Glenda Wyatt, 54, was in her kitchen at the moment her home blew up around her.

Neighbors who saw the explosion rushed to the scene and pulled her and her pet dog alive from the rubble. No one else was in the home at the time.

The woman suffered burns to her arms and face, but was conscious and alert when emergency crews arrived and rushed her to The Intermountain Burn Center in Salt Lake City; she was expected to recover.

The blast left the ruins aflame. It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze.

While the cause of the explosion remained under investigation Monday, York said the woman had indicated she had been having unspecified trouble with her gas-burning oven lately.
