Letter: College grads with low marketability need 'plan B'

In the article, "College grads flipping burgers" (Money, March 9), Stephen O'Malley's teaching aspirations with a degree in history pretty much say it all.

Back in the 1970s I attempted to use my degrees in liberal arts to pursue a teaching career and pretty much had the same results. Fortunately, I was able to shift my abilities to a good career in the airline industry, forsaking my degrees.

What this article indicates is not the challenge of a college graduate finding a job, but a college graduate with a degree that has limited marketability. I've always believed the secret to success in life is having a "plan B."
