The Slamdance Film Festival has promoted from within to select its new director.

Anna Germanidi will be Slamdance's new festival director, Slamdance announced today. She has been manager for the festival since 2012.

Germanidi will be in charge of preparing and day-to-day running of the festival, which will run Jan. 23-29, 2015, in Park City — parallel to the bigger Sundance Film Festival.

Peter Baxter, Slamdance's president and co-founder, will continue to oversee the Slamdance organization, including development of its Slamdance Studios distribution business.

In a statement, Germandini said, "as we're starting the next 20 years, we're excited to welcome new talent into our creative family and together help independent cinema grow stronger."

"To have such a passionate leader who already knows Slamdance and has helped our community grow is invaluable for us as we move forward with our 21st festival," Baxter said in a statement.
