Snow and rain tapered off Friday ahead of rising winds expected to usher in warmer weather for northern Utah over the weekend.
Wasatch Front thermometers were predicted to reach 70 degrees on Saturday, up roughly 10 degrees from Friday's highs, and that was good news for Utahns tired of wintry conditions earlier this week.
But there was a tradeoff: the National Weather Service, noting southerly winds Saturday of up to 35 mph, and possible rain showers Saturday night, issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook extending into early next week.
Southern Utahns were expecting slightly breezy weather early this weekend as high temperatures approach 80 degrees on Saturday, up 7-10 degrees from Friday's forecast. Winds were to increase late Saturday, though, with gusts of 30 mph.
The Utah Division of Air Quality rated all monitoring stations as in the "green," or healthy zone for the days ahead.
