Work to repair a section of Foothill Boulevard damaged when a water pipe burst will likely continue until mid-day Monday.

A 1940s-era water main on Foothill Boulevard near 1180 South broke Friday afternoon, forcing closure of the three southbound lanes. One lane was reopened Friday.

Salt Lake City spokesman Art Raymond said crews successfully replaced the water pipe, but as of Saturday afternoon the Utah Department of Transportation was still working to restore all lanes of the roadway.

The city had previously targeted the section of pipe for replacement, according to Raymond, and had funds earmarked for the project. The break did not disrupt water service.
