The Canadian province of Ontario is naming a highway after a favorite daughter, the late freestyle skier Sarah Burke.

Highway 93 in Ontario, which passes through Simcoe County where Burke was born and raised, will be named the Sarah Burke Memorial Freeway, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynn announced last week, according to the CBC.

Burke died in January 2012 from injuries sustained in a fall during training at the Park City Mountain Resort's superpipe.

Burke won four gold medals at the Winter X Games in superpipe, and was an advocate for the sport being included in the Winter Olympics. Until her death, she had been an early favorite to medal at Sochi.
