A Saturday evening fire destroyed two Orem town homes and significantly damaged two more.

The fire seems to have started in the brush near a car port that two town home buildings share, at 70 E. 1473 South, said Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez. There are two town homes to each building.

Firefighters from Orem and Provo responded to the blaze about 6:30 p.m.

Though no one was hurt, two of the town homes are likely a total loss, while the other two have suffered significant smoke and water damage, Martinez said.

The fire displaced all four families living in the buildings — a total of nine adults and three children, two of whom have special needs, the lieutenant said. The Red Cross of Utah is helping the four families.

At this point, investigators do not suspect that the fire was intentional, but they are still looking into how it started, Martinez said.
