Comcast, the country's largest cable television and Internet provider was named the "Worst Company in America" Tuesday by The Consumerist blog, the same day the telecom was making its case to the Federal Communications Commission to merge with Time-Warner Cable.
The Consumerist, the consumer affairs blog for Consumer Media LLC, revealed the winner of its annual contest, which is based on public votes.
Comcast received 51.5 percent of the votes, narrowly edging out the second-place vote-getter, the chemical and agricultural tech company, Monsanto. It's the second time Comcast has taken the not-so-coveted prize as "Worst Company in America." Video game publisher, Electronic Arts, also is a two-time winner and was named America's worst company last year.
