While I was saddened at the news of a student in Pennsylvania going on a spree and stabbing 20 people in a Pennsylvania high school ("Police: Pa. student flashed 2 knives, injured 20," Tribune, April 9), I am thankful that he didn't have access to a gun. If he had, we'd again be mourning multiple deaths.
Yes, "guns don't kill, people do," but as this tragic episode demonstrates, it's harder for people to slaughter indiscriminately without guns. We can't stop all such rages, but we can limit the type of weapons they use.
A vast majority of Americans want stricter regulation of guns, yet our elected "representatives" refuse to reflect the will of the voters. That's a tragedy, too.
