A letter in the Tribune forum April 14 by Carl Heck from Aspen, Colo., stated that President George W. Bush paints pictures of famous people and that maybe he could paint a picture of the WMDs he and Vice President Dick Cheney said were in Iraq.
The CIA and other entities provided faulty intelligence that convinced the Bush administration and a huge national population, as well as some 87 percent of Congress, that Iraq did possess WMDs. Notable Democratic Party politicians including Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, the Clintons and many more agreed emphatically to end Saddam's cruel dictatorship. Most of us were happy when our troops captured him.
When no WMDs were found (could they have been buried or transported out of Iraq beforehand?), those same politicians and others among us seemed to forget their commitment to the U.S. and to President Bush. They turned on him, backtracked, backstabbed and placed the entire blame on Bush. But, that seems to be Democratic Party politics.
Did you flip flop, too, Mr. Heck?
