Brigham Young University at 4 p.m. Thursday becomes the first Utah college or university to hold commencement ceremonies, signaling that graduation season is upon us.

The Salt Lake Tribune advanced the graduation in this story, and will cover the ceremonies, and invites graduates, their families and friends to participate in the coverage as well.

We encourage those who attend Thursday's celebration at BYU to use the hashtag #byugrad on posts on Instagram, Twitter and Google+, which will enable us to create Storify threads at sltrib.com that collect the best social media coverage of the procession, commencement ceremonies and other graduation-related events.

Attendee contributions promise to be a great addition to our photo gallery and story on the day's events.

We'll repeat the exercise for each future college graduation we cover as well. Next up? Friday's commencement at Weber State University, hashtag #wsugrad.
