Freeway closures and restrictions are expected to cause significant delays this weekend in Brigham City, Davis County and West Valley City.

Interstate 15 in Brigham City is scheduled to close in both directions at the 1100 South/US-91 interchange Thursday and Friday nights to demolish a bridge as part of rebuilding the interchange there.

Each night, the freeway will close from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be able to travel through the area via the on- and off-ramps at that location, but delays are expected.

In Davis County, southbound I-15 is scheduled to be restricted to one lane between Parrish Lane and 500 West on Friday beginning at 10 p.m. as part of a project to widen the shoulder there. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by Saturday at 9 a.m.

In West Valley City and Magna, the Utah Department of Transportation on Sunday will begin a three-month-long shift of all traffic on SR-201 to the westbound lanes between 5600 West and 9450 West.

SR-201 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 5600 West to 7200 West except during commute times, when a movable barrier will be used to create an additional lane in the direction of the commute.

So on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., two eastbound lanes will be open. And from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., two westbound lanes will be open.

The lane restrictions are to allow UDOT to place new concrete pavement in the eastbound lanes. UDOT encourages drivers to consider I-80 as an alternate route.

During construction on SR-201, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph.
