Forty years after "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," Elton John is still standing — and he's coming to Utah.

John and his band will take off on a 10-city tour late this summer, which will include a concert Friday, Sept. 19, at the Maverik Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City.

John currently has two albums on Billboard's Hot 100: His recent release "The Diving Board," and a remastered 40th anniversary version of his 1973 classic "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

John is an Emmy away from the coveted EGOT. He has won five Grammys, an Oscar (for the song "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from "The Lion King") and a Tony (for the score of "Aida").

John's backing band includes two original members, guitarist Davey Johnstone and drummer Nigel Olsson, as well as bassist Matt Bissonette, percussionist John Mahon and keyboardist Kim Bullard.

Tickets for the show go on sale Monday, May 12, at 10 a.m., via TicketMaster.
