Successfully prosecuting rape cases requires reliable evidence, believable testimony and aggressive police work. But in Salt Lake City, 79 percent of rape evidence has not been processed in the crime lab and in the county overall, just 6 percent of rape cases are prosecuted.
On Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., Salt Lake City police chief Chris Burbank, Rep. Angela Romero and the Rape Recovery Center's Holly Mullen join Jennifer Napier-Pearce to discuss solutions to the problem, including Burbank's plan to evaluate cases more quickly and transparently.
