U. of U. alum chosen for O. Henry Prize anthology

The Cricket's colleague Ellen Weist reports on a big prize for an author with a Utah connection:

"Writer Halina Duraj's short story, 'Fatherland,' originally published in the Harvard Review, has been selected for the prestigious 2014 O. Henry Prize anthology. Duraj, who is an assistant professor at the University of San Diego, earned a Ph.D. in literature and creative writing from the University of Utah in 2010. Her debut collection of stories, 'The Family Cannon,' was published earlier this year by New York's Augury Books."
