Rainy weather, highs in the 50s predicted for much of Utah

Utahns can expect a rainy Saturday, with a chance of more precipitation on Sunday in much of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature is expected to reach the low- to mid-50s in northern Utah. It will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms, the weather service says.

Areas above 5,500 feet are also expected to see snow from Saturday evening through much of the day Sunday, the weather service reports. Most mountain passes, portions Interstate 15 in southwestern Utah, Interstate 70 west of Green River and other highly traveled roadways are expected to be significantly impacted, the weather service adds.

The high will hit about 60 degrees Saturday in the southern Wasatch Front, including Lehi and Provo, which also will see rain in the afternoon. The Cache Valley is expected to have a high around 50 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

The forecast says Sunday highs in the northern Wasatch Front will be in the lower 50s and about 50 degrees in the southern Wasatch Front. There is a slight chance of rain on Sunday in those areas, with the possibility of rain and snow showers rising to 50 percent in the Park City area.
