• The Cannes Film Festival opened Wednesday night with a clunker, Olivier Dahan's biopic "Grace of Monaco," starring Nicole Kidman — a movie the critics slammed hard. [BBC]

• So Stephen Colbert wasn't CBS' first choice to replace David Letterman. Neil Patrick Harris reveals to Howard Stern that he was approached to take over "The Late Show." [Vulture]
