A Kayville man remained in critical condition on Sunday, the day after he lost control of his SUV, crashed and rolled in an accident that killed his wife and injured their four children.

The Utah Highway Patrol said there had been no change in the condition of Michael Riley, 36, who suffered numerous broken bones. The children, ages 8, 5, 3 and 6 months, escaped with minor injuries in the 7:43 a.m. Saturday crash on northbound I-15 in Clearfield.

The family's Toyota Sequioa was traveling near 650 North when it first struck the concretre median barrier and then careened off an embankment, where it rolled multiple times.

Troopers said Sunday it appeared that while the victim, Rebecca Riley, 35, was wearing a seat belt, it was improperly attached, since the upper strap was behind her back at the time of the accident.
