West Valley City • Hundreds of Utah police officers on Wednesday attended training at a Statewide DUI Conference hosted by West Valley City Police and the Utah Highway Safety Office.

The conference showcased innovations in DUI enforcement technology including: the latest in portable breath testing devices and intoxilyzers, in-car camera systems, high visibility uniform items and ignition interlock devices.

"I do believe we're seeing the investigation of DUI become more complex for the officers," West Valley Police Lt. Scott Buchanan told KUTV 2News.

"There's lot of work to it as far as reporting goes and then the prosecution of that, going to court and some of the different tactics of defense attorneys," added Utah Highway Patrol Captain Steven Winward.

Some 240 officers from across Utah attended the conference, which organizers hope to make an annual event.
