Kearns • The Unified Police Department is looking for whoever killed a 49-year-old man in Kearns.

Police have not disclosed the victim's name. A shooting was reported near 5400 S. Nez Perce Drive at 5:46 p.m. Saturday, said police Lt. Justin Hoyal. Officers arrived to find the man shot and killed inside a home, Hoyal said.

Hoyal said detectives believe the man was targeted.

Detectives on Saturday night were waiting for a warrant to search the home for evidence.

One neighbor told The Tribune he does not think he heard any gunshots, but that it was very windy at the time of the shooting.

Tweets from UPD describe the suspect, who witnesses saw leaving the home, as a Polynesian man between 20 and 30 years old, with long curly black hair in a ponytail, wearing a red shirt. He was seen getting into a silver 4-door passenger car with a sunroof, Hoyal added.

Anyone with information can call UPD at 801-743-7000.
