A 5-year-old girl remained in critical condition Monday, four days after she was run down on a dark Salt Lake City street by a hit-and-run driver.

Salt Lake City police Detective Cody Lougy said police continued to look for the driver of the car which struck the child about 9:40 p.m. Friday as she was crossing 400 South at 1000 West.

Police said the child was believed to have just left a friend's house to go home. She was not in a crosswalk at the time she was hit.

The hit-and-run vehicle is described as a light-colored, four-door sedan with a black-and-white bumper sticker above the license plate. The car probably has front-end damage.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
