Northern Utahns will see a slight cooling trend at the midweek, but denizens of southern Utah will continue to bake in hot temperatures.

The National Weather Service predicted a cool front moving out of California through Nevada would drop highs into the upper-70s to low-80s under sunny skies on Wednesday, down a few degrees from Tuesday's temperatures.

However, southern Utah will be skipped by that cool, moist system. Highs on Wednesday were expected to hover near 100 degrees, up 3-5 degrees from Tuesday's forecast.

The Utah Division of Air Quality predicted "yellow," or compromised breathing conditions statewide for the midweek period.

Allergy sufferers were getting a break, though. The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index was "high" only for grass, with maple rating a "moderate" rating.
