A 55-year-old man has died and another suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle collision Thursday in Uintah County.

Three motorcycles that were traveling together and two other vehicles were involved in the 6:15 p.m. crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and 3700 East near Naples, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Lt. Jeff Chugg said a vehicle traveling east on the highway had stopped to make a left turn and two other vehicles, including a pickup truck, stopped behind it. Motorcyclist David Glenn — who was a deputy at the Midland County Sheriff's Office in Texas — hit the back of the pickup and was thrown into the westbound land, where he was struck by an SUV and killed.

One of the other motorcyclists also hit the back of the pickup but was uninjured, Chugg said. The third laid his motorcycle on the road and suffered broken bones, he said.
