Steve Pearson, who has spent the last 13 years as the offensive coordinator at Hurricane High School, has been promoted to head coach.

The Southern Utah graduate replaces Chris Homer, who is now the Washington County school's vice principal and athletic director.

Hurricane won the state 3A football title in 2011, its fourth straight season in the state title game.

"Chris and I have been together for a long time," said Pearson. "I was the offensive coordinator when he started 13 years ago. As far as wide-sweeping program changes, we want to continue to stay the course as much as we possibly can. We've built a good thing. I would like to see the consistency. Our offensive philosophy will remain the same. We will have a new defensive staff."
