Tooele • The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series makes its fifth annual stop at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Qualifying begins at 10 a.m. Opening ceremonies start at 2 p.m.

The top off-road racers in North American will compete in Rounds 7 and 8 of the Lucas Oil series on Miller's widely acclaimed short course.

"We've been looking forward to this event for months now," said John Larson, general manager of Miller Motorsports Park. "Our great fans have really taken this series to heart and, thanks to them and the outstanding support by our partners, Lucas Oil and the Utah Sports Commission, we're expecting a big crowd. ... We can't wait to drop the green flag on all the action."

After six events, Brian Deegan (Pro 2), Kyle LeDuc (Pro 4), Sheldon Creed (Pro Lite) and Chad George (Pro Buggy) lead their respective Lucas Oil series classes. They could take a major step toward a championship with a successful weekend at MMP.

Deegan has won three times this season and leads Carl Renezeder by 27 points in Pro 2.

LeDuc, the 2012 champion, has five wins and holds a 31-point lead over Ricky Johnson in Pro 4.

Creed, who has one win and five other top-three finishes, leads Deegan by 22 points in Pro Lite.

George, who sat out last season, has three wins and enjoys a 36-point lead over his cousin, Garrett George, in Pro Buggy. —
