Are you a Donny Osmond fan? Now there's an app for that.
"I just wish I had this back in the 'Puppy Love' days," Osmond told USA Today in a Google Hangout chat, referring to his first hit single in 1972. "Just think of the promotional opportunities. Think of the contests, think of the amount of people you could stay in touch with. All over the world."
In the USA Today interview, Osmond said he's a tech-head, who has designed the computer systems for the stage show he and sister Marie perform at The Flamingo in Las Vegas.
Not everyone is sold on the idea of a Donny app. Jordyn Taylor, writing on the tech blog BetaBeat, argues that famous musicians creating apps is an exercise in vanity.
"The stars seem to have felt compelled to create these apps, and yet the apps didn't go anywhere because, let's face it, these people are busy singers, actors and TV personalities who don't have time to be tech entrepreneurs, as well," Taylor wrote.
