The officer who killed the dog in Sugar House should be held accountable. Yes, I realize that he was looking for a lost child, but when he knocked on the door of the house where the dog lived, got no answer and then proceeded to enter the backyard where the dog lived, he should have realized that he was invading the dog's territory. He was a threat to the dog and his home, not the other way around. Dogs have rights, also. Shame on him and the Salt Lake City Police Department. They should know better.
