Utah is where Army learns to fly drones better • Dugway Proving Ground » Earlier this year, Apache helicopters flying in Afghanistan received new companions in the sky. Two types of drones the MQ-1C Gray Eagle and the RQ-7 Shadow began flying in tandem with the Apaches. Before the helicopters and drones were paired in Afghanistan, they flew together in Utah.
Whether Utah horses are native species is at heart of debate • Advocates are petitioning the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list wild horses as threatened or endangered, which would trigger protections for herds in 10 Western states. Setting aside the question of whether there are too many or too few horses a debate raging throughout the West the wildlife agency will have to consider a perennial question: Are wild horses native to this country?
Parkites sweating it out: Will PCMR open for ski season? • It's more torturous than waiting for the first snow of the ski season. A defining court ruling this week in the ongoing land-lease dispute between Park City Mountain Resort and Talisker Land Holdings has done nothing to relieve the anxiety in Utah's premier ski town. The ski season may be five months away, but if PCMR were not to open, it would be devastating for Park City businesses, residents and taxpayers.
Utah Hindu wedding full of color and symbolism • The groom rode into Saturday's wedding ceremony atop a white horse, and about three hours later after much singing, dancing, symbolism and ceremony he and his new wife floated into the Salt Lake City sky in a hot air balloon. It was the colorful culmination of Hindu matrimonial rites for bride Avni Patel, of Salt Lake City, and groom Abhishek Dhingra, of Houston. It was a fairy tale event, lasting three days and involving hundreds of people from all over the globe.
