Helper took a giant step towards defending its Utah American Legion baseball title Wednesday night.

The Carbon County team defeated Trappers Orange of Mountain Crest 4-3 to become the only unbeaten team left in the 12-team double elimination tournament.

Helper will play the winner of Thursday's 4 p.m. St. George-Trappers Orange game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Logan High. If Helper wins, it will advance to the American Legion regional tournament in Glendale, Ariz. Should it lose, that would set up at 6 p.m. Friday championship game.

In Wednesday games, Layton defeated Trappers Blue 3-2 while St. George beat Herriman 3-1. St. George then stayed alive by defeating Layton 10-8.
