A man was stabbed Monday evening in West Valley City.

The victim was walking near 3200 South and Beaver Street (3030 West) when a white, two-door passenger car pulled up to him. Three men got out and "roughed up" the victim, said West Valley City police Sgt. Paul Gill. One of the men had a baseball bat. Another man, apparently carrying some sort of sharp object, hit the victim twice in the rib cage, breaking his skin.

The three men got back into the car and left the scene. A woman also was inside the car, Gill said.

The victim was not critically injured and walked to a nearby home for help. He was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover.
