Ogden • Weber State golfer Emily Podlesny rallied to beat two-time defending champion Kelsey Chugg, a former Wildcat star, in Friday's quarterfinals of the Women's State Amateur at the Ogden Golf and Country Club.

Podlesny was 3 down after nine holes, but won the next three holes with birdies. The match was even going into No. 17, and Podlesny won the last two holes with pars to claim a 2-up victory.

In Saturday morning's semifinals, Podlesny will meet Allison Cluff, a 1-up winner over Sadie Palmer. Cluff was 3 up after 13 holes, but had to win No. 18 with a par to take the match.

In the other semifinal match, qualifying medalist Lea Garner of BYU will face San Diego State golfer Sirene Blair, the 2013 runner-up from South Jordan. —
