Farmington • A 42-year-old man suffered head and face injuries after an accident at the Davis County Fair's demolition derby.
The man was a member of the safety team at the derby. In Wednesday night's last heat, featuring trucks, a Suburban and a pickup truck collided. The pickup truck rolled on to its side, said Farmington City Fire Chief Guido Smith. The man ran out to shut off fuel and check on the driver when the truck's weight shifted, and the truck crushed the man's head.
A medical team was on scene for the derby and immediately assisted the man, whose identity is not being released pending family notification. He was airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden with critical, life-threatening injuries, Smith said.
