A Wellington teenager died of injuries he suffered when his dirt bike crashed into the side of a semi-trailer rig hauling coal over the weekend in Carbon County.

The 15-year-old, identified as Nickolas Pete Stamatakis, struck the truck near the intersection of Lower Miller Creek and Ridge roads about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The youth was later pronounced dead at Castleview Hospital in Price, according to the Carbon County Sheriff's Office.

The teen reportedly crashed as he jumped his bike over an embankment along the shoulder, hitting the eastbound truck.

Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Price.
