Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• The National Football League reportedly has asked music acts being considered for the Super Bowl halftime show — a list that includes Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay — to pay the NFL a portion of their post-Super Bowl earnings. Isn't that usually called a kickback? [Rolling Stone]

• Benedict Cumberbatch will provide the voice of the tiger Shere Khan in Warner Bros.' adaptation of "The Jungle Book," to be directed by Andy Serkis. This is not to be confused with Disney's "Jungle Book" reboot, which has cast Idris Elba to voice Shere Khan. [The Hollywood Reporter]

• Adrianne Palicki ("Friday Night Lights") has signed on to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," to play a popular Marvel character, Agent Bobbi Morse a k a Mockingbird. In other S.H.I.E.L.D. news, there's a billboard in Los Angeles with a mysterious reference to the show. [Variety, Entertainment Weekly]
