One person was dead and two others injured after an out-of-control cement truck smashed into a pickup Wednesday morning in St. George.

St. George police said the 6:20 a.m. accident occurred when the westbound truck failed to negotiate a curve on Red Hills Parkway near 1300 East, drifting into the ongoing, eastbound lane and hitting the pickup.

One person in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second occupant, along with the cement truck's driver, sustained minor injuries.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

SGPD was investigating the cause of the crash and did not immediately release any other details, including genders of the dead and injured.
