Police found a missing Tooele boy, who was possibly in danger after his father left with him and allegedly threatened to kill him.

An Amber Alert was issued for the 5-year-old about noon Saturday. It was canceled about 12:44 p.m., after a police dog followed the boy's scent to a shed outside a neighbor's house, where Tooele police found him in good condition and arrested his father without incident.

The boy had last been seen Friday about 8 p.m. At that time, his father was arguing with his ex-girlfriend — who is also the boy's mother — at a home near 400 E. Vine Street, and during that encounter "made a threat that he was going to kill all his family starting with his 5-year-old son" according to a Tooele police news release.

Shortly afterward, the father left the area on foot with his son, according to the release.

Police did not believe the father knew anyone else in the Tooele area, and left his money, credit cards and car at the home.

The father was booked into Tooele County Jail.
